How does
KneeJerk
work?

Make six predictions before the World Cup. Once the tournament begins, change your mind as many times as you want — right up to the day before the final, even!

However... there's a cost. Each day that passes, the value of a prediction goes down. Predictions made at the start of the tournament score more points than one at the end.

But you only score points if the prediction is right.

And this is the conundrum that Knee-jerkers face. Stay loyal to a high-value pick you've lost hope with? Or make a change that feels right but for points that feel wrong?

Decision-making is everything in football.

Send your predictions to the league admin before the World Cup starts.

Change your mind

Update your pick right up to the day that category resolves. Send any new pick to the admin — the potential points value will also update.

Weekly updates

The dashboard refreshes every Sunday at 9:00 BST, at which point changes made during the week will be made public on the dashboard and individual category pages.

Points scoring

Group stage categories resolve on 27th June. All other categories resolve on 19th July after the World Cup final. In the event of category ties, points can be awarded for multiple correct picks.

KNEEJERK — TERMS OF USE

OWNERSHIP

KneeJerk is an original prediction game concept created by David Hodgson in 2026. The name KneeJerk, the time-weighted scoring mechanic (whereby points available for each prediction category decrease incrementally each day from the start of a competition), the site design, and all associated materials are the intellectual property of David Hodgson.

SCORING MECHANIC

The KneeJerk scoring system is a proprietary time-weighted prediction format in which the points value of each prediction decreases by a fixed amount each day from the start of a competition. KneeJerk is designed to work across any sport or competition format, including but not limited to football tournaments, domestic leagues, and other sporting events. Predictions made before the competition begins are awarded maximum points. The later a prediction is made or changed, the lower its points value. This mechanic and its specific implementation are the original work of David Hodgson.

This site is currently operated as a private league. The game concept, scoring system, brand name and site design are not licensed for reproduction, commercial use or distribution in any format - including but not limited to football, other sports, or any competition format - without the express written permission of David Hodgson.
